Primary 7’s make Martenitsi
1st Mar 2022
Thanks to the wonderful Ms Stefanova, Primary 7’s had the opportunity to make martenitsi.
Children from countries all over the world celebrate March 1st as a centuries old tradition and exchange martenitsi on what is called the day of Baba Marta.
Baba Marta can be translated to “Granny March” and is symbolic of the end to winter and the beginning of spring.
The tradition of giving friends red-and-white interwoven strings brings health and happiness during the year and is a reminder that spring is near.
